For Good is a charity initiative launched by colleen in 2024 to raise funds and awareness, and to give back to communities in need.
"Access, equality and inclusivity are really important to me. I believe that diversity and inclusion benefit us all in immeasurable ways. I've been kicking around ideas on how colleen can help to uplift people in our community for a while now. My hope is that Colleen For Good can make a difference in the lives of the people around us that need a helping hand." – colleen founder Lauren Gunn
Hundred-Dollar Haircut Day sees the colleen team donate their time and skills to cutting hair for a day, to raise much-needed funds for community organisations that have boots on the ground and are doing the hard mahi, often with very few resources. It also creates a little explosion of publicity and awareness.
Our inaugural Hundred-Dollar-Haircut Day in August 2024 saw $2800 raised for RainbowYOUTH, in support of transgender youth, their whanau and loved ones. We also opened our doors for a day providing free haircuts to trans youth in a gender-friendly salon, an experience that can often be a scary undertaking for transgender people.
In May 2025 colleen dedicated a Hundred-Dollar-Haircut Day to Kick Back, a Karangahape Road organisation providing advocacy for unhoused youth and a safe space with access to food and clothing. We raised $4149, and in November will be spending some time at Kick Back's HQ cutting hair for tamariki.
Davines NZ has kindly partnered with colleen for each event with generous donations of hair products and gift pack giveaways for lucky patrons of colleen for good.
We'll be sneaking in an extra Hundred-Dollar-Haircut Day on Sunday November 16 to raise much needed funds for Pet Refuge, an organisation working to provide temporary shelter for pets from around New Zealand affected by domestic violence, keeping them safe while their owners escape abuse.
