There is nothing quite like an economic recession when it comes to fashion influence. Forget about Kim Kardashian, a good old pandemic followed by a war in Europe will do the trick every time.

Rations during WWII limited the amount of fabric available, leading to the invention of new fabrics and the social acceptance of wearing less clothing (so cool). Next minute we have the miniskirt and Emily Ratajkowki’s barely-there ‘ikini.

Plus, Goth is back, and every pop culture journalist is pinning the resurgence of goth on economic insecurity - apparently goth is the ‘harbinger of recession’.

You know what? There is always an upside, culture will always find the joy. Introducing Rootsy! a new hair trend that looks cool AF, can save you some bucks in a recession and bring you all the fashion cred your heart desires.

This look works best with dynamic colours like fiery copper or platinum blonde, but it can also be cool with honey tones or your natural hair colour.

The basic idea is to fill in your roots with a colour 2-3 shades darker than the rest of your hair, giving the appearance of a grown-out colour or of a moody nirvanaesque personality. Of course, you could just grow out your colour too, which totally works if your natural colour has the depth to make it a look.
