STAND OUT MET GALA BEAUTY MOMENTS

She was an hour late (as usual) but Rihanna will be placed at the top of the list forever. STUNN-ING in Valentino.

This year’s Met Gala theme ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ might be the closest, in recent years at least, that guests have actually dressed to the theme. With Karl’s preferred monochromatic colour palette featuring heavily, pearls encrusted anywhere they could be sewn, and cute bows fastened in flowing hair, it was an elegant affair – not super over the top imo, but it was definitely a spectacle.

There were plastic bottle chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and up each side of the stairs (weird flex but it’s eco), two pregnancy announcements, one guy on shrooms, some awkward interviews, a cockroach on the steps and a long list of touching memories shared by guests honouring the late Karl Lagerfeld. I wonder if he would have liked it?

Conan Gray, that's a slay. Look at those curls, that fan. You hit the nail on the head with this pearl-encrusted look.

Yes, Kirsten. We stan this Cuban-inspired menswear look from Chanel Cruise 2016.

Jennie <3 Serving prim Chanel perfection with sleek hair and braided band.

Elegant Lizzo; from the messy bun and bangs to the pearly bodice and leather gloves. It's a yes from us.

Cardi B understood the assignment; from the grey-lilac hair and headband to the starched white shirt and tie to the flowing flower-appliqued full skirt, it was all about Karl Lagerfeld and the house of Chanel.

An angel walks among us. Gigi shone in Givenchy with a metallic silver eye and flowing half-up, wavy hair.

Teyana Taylor takes fashion seriously, she's killing this Thom Brown tailored tweed, what you can't see is her tiny Karl Lagerfeld-esque ponytail at the back.

Chloe Fineman's bag.

Adut Akech's chic black bob and blunt baby bangs are giving 1920s glam while the black lip and monochromatic gown are in keeping with the theme.

Excuse us Bad Bunny in this backless Jacquemus look.

Alex Newell's hat had its own damn seat at the table.

Lil Nas X opted for full glam, pearl and diamond kitty cat.

A nod to Karl with silver textured hair, crisp white shirt and leather gloves, Chanel girlie, Cara Delevingne.

Alton Mason, who channelled the iconic Chanel bride for his Met look, was the first black male model to walk for Chanel, in the 2018/2019 Métiers d'Art show.

Never one to shy away from committing to a theme, Doja Cat turned up as a cat. She was still able to talk, and vape in the background of the Vogue live-feed, bless her.

What a look, Micaela Coel with perfect braids and a heavily embellished Schiaparelli dress.

Quinta Brunson's hair is a work of art. The braided buns are accessorised with white feathers and intricate kiss curls.

Not far off the vibe from her last Met Gala look with this gothic glam. Billie Eilish in a custom Simone Rocha dress with embellished opera gloves, black diamond barrettes and a bow-bound braid. It's the styling for me.

Brian Tyree Henry extravaganza!

The tousled waves Gisele is known for. Wearing a Chanel gown that she wore from an editorial in 2006 or 2007 with Karl.

Florence Pugh in Valentino, I'm into a shaved-head couture look.

Suki Waterhouse went for a romantic Bardot look with softly brushed-out bangs and draped makeup in tones that match her Rodarte look. Not the most extra look of the night but worth a mention for the pretty glam.

We zoomed in really close to catch Grace Elizabeth's intricate, wetlook finger waves with pearl detailing. We know Karl wasn't a fan of pink but we can't go passed a wet-look.
