It's time for Lauren Gunn's annual round-up, a collection of her essential products as well as some newbies on the scene. (Revisit her 2023 picks, here)
Noto Resurface Scrub
Dang, this blew my mind the first time I used it. I had in my bathroom cabinet for a good few months before I pulled it out, and it's been on my shower shelf ever since. Feels amazing, smells amazing and lasts for ages.
O&M PS Spray
A new kid on the block from O&M, with one of the best formulas for heat protection I've ever encountered. It comes in a balm too for extra crunchy hair, but I like the spray because I can layer it up for max protection on the areas that need it most.
Oribe Gel Serum
A multitasker, and the hardest working product in my arsenal. I use it to help my natural wave form when I'm airdrying, and again to get rid of the floating layer of frizz on day two and three. I use it for a sleek ponytail, a perfect braid and I use a bunch of it when I want to get a wet look.
Mother SPF Tinted Face Barrier SPF 50
Another newbie, but an instant fave. The silky spreadable texture is niiiice and the tint gives just enough coverage to even out my red patches. It stays in place and doesn't migrate into my eyes and make me cry or smudge my mascara. I'm for SPF50 all day long.
Vida Glow Hairology and Radiance+
Ok technically cheating because this is two products, but the combo is phenom. Hairology has all the ingredients your hair needs to grow and glow - it's the best multivitamin ingestible I've ever come across - and Radiance + gave me the best skin of my life.
Lelet NY Glossy Arch Pony
This is the hair equivalent of wearing red lipstick when you're feeling a bit peaky. On days when I really should wash my hair (like really need to wash my hair) but CBF, I throw it up in a pony with the glossy arch and fool the world that I've got my shit together.
ghd Duet Blowdry
I don't think there’s been one day in the salon since its release that I haven't picked this bad boy up and used it. This is my ultimate go-to when styling layered, thick frizzy hair. The dual function of heated tool and blow-dryer means going from wet to dry with next to no frizz, fast – without scorching your cuticle, so it stays frizz free for days.
Mason Pearson BN3 Handy Hair Brush in Dark Ruby
I picked up my first Mason Pearson in New York City. I had a break between fashion week shows and one of my new friends took me through a labyrinthine series of lifts, hallways and stairwells to Shearworld, a pokey little wholesale space packed literally to the ceiling with every hairbrush, comb and hair clip you can imagine. It was heaven.
Oribe Mirror Rinse
I actually love getting ready for a night out when I have the time. It makes a nice change from racing straight from work to whatever event. I also love a niche product that has one job, and this is my favourite. The job? Make my hair shine like crazy.
K18 Molecular Repair Mask
Still in my top 10 after five years. All those good peptides working their magic, keeping my hair supple and flexible in spite of all that I put it through. I shudder to think of all the split ends I'd have without it...
